1. YHWH said there would be ONE law for EVERYONE, including the alien and stranger. The quotes here are because they are the WORDS of our Creator, spoken through the prophet Moses.
"The same law shall apply to the native as to the stranger who sojourns among you." Exodus 12:49
"There shall be one standard for you; it shall be for the stranger as well as the native, for I am YHWH your Elohim." Leviticus 24:22
"[As for] the assembly, there shall be one statute for you and for the alien who sojourns [with you], a perpetual statute throughout your generations; as you are, so shall the alien be before YHWH." Numbers 15:15
"There is to be one law and one ordinance for you and for the alien who sojourns with you." Numbers 15:16
"You shall have one law for him who does [anything] unintentionally, for him who is native among the sons of Israel and for the alien who sojourns among them. But the person who does [anything] defiantly, whether he is native or an alien, that one is blaspheming YHWH; and that person shall be cut off from among his people. Numbers 15:29-30
YHWH's own words debunk the idea that the Ten Commandments were specifically for the Israelites. I prefer to take our Creator's words over the words of man telling me Sabbath is not a law I need to obey. In case you're still thinking the law was "then," let's look to the prophet Isaiah in points 3 & 4 which was written some 800 years later.
2. Through the prophet Isaiah, YHWH in His infinite mercy clearly tells us that Sabbath applies to anyone who wants to love and serve Him. I want to be in that category. YHWH tells us Sabbath applies to ALL people including: "man...son of man.. and foreigners who join themselves to YHWH, to minister to Him, and to love the name of the YHWH (Isaiah 56:2-6). Son of man is another way to say human. Foreigners are clearly those who are not of Hebrew descent. In summary, if you are human and want to love and serve YHWH, Sabbath applies to you.
3. I want to point out some of the words from Isaiah 56:6 specifically. YHWH tells us it is "MY COVENANT." As in His laws, not laws made up specifically for the Israelites. If you're still not convinced, here below is another verse confirming the covenant is HIS. Sabbath is of course the 4rth commandment, these laws do not belong to the Israelites. They belong to HIM.
"So He declared to you His covenant which He commanded you to perform, [that is], the Ten Commandments; and He wrote them on two tablets of stone. " Deuteronomy 4:13
4. The below verse confirms Sabbath is HIS. The Israelites were favored to know about His Sabbath. Meaning His Sabbath was not "made up" for them rather REVEALED to them.
"So You made known to them Your holy sabbath, And laid down for them commandments, statutes and law, Through Your servant Moses. " Nehemiah 9:14
5. Again, let's look at YHWH's words to see who HE SAYS Sabbath applies to: "...everyone who keeps from profaning His Sabbaths and holds fast My covenant; Even those I will bring to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer....for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples" (Isaiah 56:6-7). The prerequisite for going to His house of prayer is Sabbath observance. The house of prayer by His own words is for ALL THE PEOPLES. You may be thinking, that's the "Old Testament," those words don't apply to me anymore. Let's see what Messiah has to say on the matter of Sabbath observance.
6. Yahushua confirms Sabbath applies to MAN not just the Israelites. Yahusha the Messiah had no problem saying He "was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Mat 15:24). However, when Messiah spoke on Sabbath, He said "sabbath was created for man," He could have very easily specified Sabbath applied to Israelites only and put this matter to bed (Mark 2:27). However, Messiah chose the word MAN. Again, man is another way to say human. Messiah's word choices were not random or haphazard. I believe He chose to use the word "man" not "Israelite" precisely because He was echoing the words of His Father which clearly tell us Sabbath applies to all people.
7. This one is pretty incredible. If you're still on the fence, I think this one should seal the deal. We know YHWH and Messiah clearly said Sabbath is for ALL PEOPLE. But given that almost all churches gather on Sunday, you may be tempted to think they can't be wrong. We need to jump to the end to understand this part. If you don't know, this heaven and earth will pass away, it will be destroyed by fire after judgement. Yikes.
But the day of the Lord (the day of YHWH) will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up. 2 Peter 3:10
"Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer [any] sea" (Revelation 21:1).
There will be a new heaven and earth, described in Revelation 21 & 22, the last two chapters of the bible. But guess what, the new heaven and earth is also spoken of in Isaiah. YHWH speaks of worship in the NEW heavens and NEW earth. WHAT? Yes, I'm not kidding. Yahuah says and I quote,
"For just as the new heavens and the new earth which I make will endure before Me," declares YHWH, So your offspring and your name will endure. And it shall be from new moon to new moon And from sabbath to sabbath, All mankind will come to bow down before Me," says YHWH" (Isaiah 66:23).
When I read this, I actually almost fell out of my chair. Sabbath was created in the first week of creation. Sabbath was observed by the Israelites. Sabbath is to be observed by all those who take hold of His covenant. And finally, Sabbath will be observed by ALL MANKIND in eternity. Our Creator observed Sabbath Himself at creation and will continue to have humanity worship Him on Sabbath for all eternity! WOW! Case closed.
