Bible in Excel!

There are over thirty one thousand verses in the 1995 NASB bible. Can be overwhelming. To make the bible easier for me to study, I put the entire bible in excel. Each verse in a unique cell. You can see an example of what it looks like in the above picture. The filters allow you to filter by:

Old or New Testament

Section: Torah, History, Wisdom, Major Prophet, Minor Prophet, Gospels, Acts, Pauline Epistles, General Epistles, Revelation

Book: All 66 books included

Voice: This part is not done.... YET! But will identify the individual talking as YHWH, Messiah or EE (Everyone Else).

Let's say you wanted to see what our Creator had to say on idols in the Torah. You can filter by Torah, then by the voice of YHWH. Next, you can search the filter for the word "idol." In just a few clicks you can read everything our Creator had to say on idols in His Torah. Amazing right?!? Again, I am still working on identifying the "voice," I hope to have that done soon.

There are no strings attached. I only want to share what's helped me. This is free. I will eventually do tutorials showing how to use this very simple bible database. Happy studying!

Why Study the Bible Electronically

Having the bible electronically in excel is a GAME CHANGER. Why? Because verses can be searched by topic or key word. There are bible tools that allow you to pull verses on let's say, "sabbath." These tools are without a doubt helpful. However, the search results are not always complete, in sequential order, and sometimes have repeat verses. When searching in the ecxel version above, you can filter for a key word (like "sabbath")! In a few seconds, you can see isolate every verse in the bible with the word "sabbath." This allows you to look at what the bible has to say on something in its entirety. We MUST avoid looking at verses in isolation, which can lead to misinterpretation and/or misunderstanding. When we look at what the bible has to say in total, we are MUCH MORE LIKELY TO COME TO THE CORRECT CONCLUSION! I didn't come up with this type of study, people have been studying groups of verses forever. However, having the bible in excel and using the filter functionality sure does make it a heck of a lot easier, more orderly, and concise.
